My Improvements! (New Photos from 2010)

Hello,

In 2009 I posted a bit in this forum for macro help, and got tons of it from Overread and various other posters. I was told to stop shooting macro wide open, and to not use the popup flash on my camera.

This was one of the images I posted.

Well here I am, back a year and a half later to share my improvements.

You have improved dramatically. Your usage of light is the biggest factor.

amazing, the lighting is impeccable in 3rd shot

only thing i would have changed about the second one would be getting both the antennas in the shot, but its still really great

dxq, I appreciate it! I'm still working on my lighting, and it's not as consistent as it should be, but I'm getting SUCH better results.

MWG, think you! For the light, I used a 430EXII and a lens long diffuser made with a paper plate folded into a tube, lined with aluminium foil, and covered with paper towel on the end. It's a cheap diffuser, but it does its job.

And a big improvement over the last year and a half (probably more than me since I've not shot that much in the last year). Looks like you've really taken control over the exposure and lighting and composition is going strong as well!
