My attempt at shooting without proper lighting gear as a present for my girl. Unfortunately shooting at low shutter speeds and an anxious 3yr old the only usable photo I got was this:

Haha!! That's hilarious!

I was gonna mention cropping in tighter but then I read that this was a crop. Did you try cropping closer in to her? The background is distracting - the Santa blanket. It throws me off because shes all warm colors but then the blanket thing is a really cool bluish color.

She's gonna love this picture when she gets older!

I think it will be her yearbook photo. In the printed version the background is darker from a vignette so it's not as distracting but I agree with you.
