But I'm not copying him! I swear!

Sigma zoom 150-600mm Contemporary for my Sony A6500. I'm still working on my technique with this particular setup.

love them all but especially number 2

Another great set!

Thanks everybody! I was pleasantly surprised when I got home. The focus tracking feature works well on this setup, it improved my percentage in-focus shots. The extra reach and 1.5x crop factor takes some getting used to ;)

That's a wonderful set! I haven't tried to catch BIF with mine yet. The squirrel is my favorite in this set.
FWIW, I had a lot of totally missed shots waiting for the lens to get in the right focus range. Darned flying birds refused to cooperate! Going forward I'll try manually racking focus in the approximate range and then try to AF. Once it locks on it's wonderful! I have the Canon mount with a Sigma MC-11 adapter for Sony.

Wonderful set. Congrats on the new lens.

There is no such a thing, Mitch, it is just a apparent narrower AoV.
Focal length does not change because of the smaller sensor.
Well, the "apparent narrower AoV" takes some getting used to ;) And it has more physical reach than my Nikon 500mm prime. Not the same IQ, though.

Also, the APS-C sensor captures the smaller image circle with more pixels than a full frame sensor. Even my D850 (which I haven't gotten yet) will only cover a DX sized circle with 20MP, the Sony with 24MP. Whether those are "better" pixels is another story!
