Question: What is your opinion of this song I chose? What kind of music goes best with photography slideshows? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

It's full of soft, serene images, and the music is fairly ragged and rough.

Yeah, I don't think the music matches the images.

One of my favorite songs to put to images...especially people images...is "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce.

Works with landscapes too. Just for chits and giggles, drop that song in there, I think you'll like it.

I used to do videos of my kids back when I was married, and would dub music in, I seemed to have a knack for it. Another good one to blend in, if you have snow images...images of action...is "immigrant song" by Led Zeppelin. Also if you have any action shots showing a sort of "pow" to start the show, Metallica "Master of Puppets" starts off great for such an intro. and then there is always Jimmi Hendrix for sort of an "introduction" type of slideshow centralizing on a person... "Voodoo Child" slight return version....I usually edit the track to the first 30 seconds though...then merge to something else.

Are we talking about using copyrighted music or the royalty free tracks YouTube supplies?

The juxtoposition is what I was going for (between rough and soft). Thanks for the comments and advice. I will definitely keep them in mind for future videos.

Trust me, there are no copyright issues with the song I used. Which is sad, he was a good song writer, even Neil Young and Dennis Wilson thought so. Just couldn't keep his mind from wandering.

I am of two minds about this.. First, I very much like the slideshow images. Having said that, I just don't think the soundtrack goes with it particularly well. I realize that's a matter of personal taste so take it for what it's worth; one man's opinion. I produce a slideshow every year for a group of people which chronicles a 35 + year annual event; including pictures representing all the previous years. I use only instrumental music in these; often it's my own acoustic guitar or some other recorded instrumental that provides the mood I'm going for. I don't want the lyrics of a song to compete for attention with the images. But that's just my own preference. If I was going to include songs with lyrics on your slideshow I'd probably go with something very soft and mellow; something Nick Drake-ish perhaps. Pink Moon as an example.

Thanks tuffy!! This is the first slideshow I made with a song with lyrics. I agree with you about the instrumentals, much better in my opinion. I was trying to be subversive with my choice of artist. He's not the first choice in anyone's opinion I am pretty sure. He's pretty frickin' famous though, unfortunately it wasn't for his music. Everyone on here knows who was singing the song I chose.

I'm kinda new here; so not in the loop I guess. I don't have any idea who is singing in the slideshow. I understand your reason for using it though.
