Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
For many years, a camera would trigger her legs to run !!!
Now that she is thirteen and since the invention of facebook and other social media.....she will actually pose (so all her friends can compliment her).

So here is a shot I took tonight. Bit of softfocus and conversion to B&W.

C&C welcome (keep in mind though, taken indoor, in low light with our 70-300 mm lens).

No comments at all ?
How am I supposed to learn anything ??

This is a lot better than the average Facebook photo, so you're doing your daughter proud in giving her a photo like this one! Not sure I like the amount of softness on her hair, looks like a softness vignette, kind of. Not my cup of tea. But I like your use of light.

nothing too striking about it. Try brightening up her eyes and giving more attention to the focal point.

what do you mean with attention to the focal point ?

And brighten up her eyes in photoshop ?

I took a shot at it: I cropped off about 4mm on the left hand side, and about 50% of the top space, and tat made it look better. If it has another problem, it is the flat, low contrast...the highlights are barely being held, but the entire side of her face on the shadowed side looks "flat". The image needs more of what is known as local contrast.

i will clarify a few things.
This is just a simple snapshot, no studio shot.
Her right side was lit because of a lamp that is in that corner.

If I was to highlight her other side a bit. How would I do that in a living roomsituation ?

You can use a reflector camera left to bring some light onto her right side. You can buy a reflector or use something simple such as white poster board.

I would say the thing lacking here greatly is her dark eyes, a little more light would've brought a catch light into her eyes, or even a reflector would've done the trick. I also might crop some of the empty space towards the top of the photo.

Wise men have their right to interpret its shortcomings their own way and that help those who learn things from every photograph. So such comments need always be welcomed

At the same time a lay man like me enjoys it non-critically and from that point of view i liked this image very much; being straight from a point and shoot, it is more that what one could have desired; i am sure she would be pretty happy to see her in this image

(I want to study portaiture and lighting in near future  )

Regards :D
