Decided my macro hardware wasn't cutting it. DX 40mm auto focus macro wasn't doing the job in camera. And my ancient, (very ancient), Vivitar ring flash was on it's last leg. So, I went and got a new ring flash, focusing rail and used my old manual 105 macro. Shot this in the field, live plant since it was a native wildflower in a National Park, I left it alone.
Only software I have is PS and Light Room for stacking. I used the same 11 frames using 3 different tools/methods of stacking. This one was the best of the three as far as detail goes. But it did some weird cropping without me wanting to.
Turtlehead flower, D850, 105 2.8, ISO 1000, F32, Godox ring flash, left set at 1/32 and right side set at 1/128.
11 frames using LRC HDR merging tool. Moved the focus rail in1mm per shot.
