Aside from the obvious flaw of the beer being Natural Light...what do you think I could improve on? I know he's a bit washed out on his back, but I'm not sure how to fix that with the camera I've got....?

Again, my dog with his (empty) can of Natural Light. He was just doing his part to pick up trash around the farm...lol

My pup is a heeler/catahoula....so when he's on the move, you're lucky to catch him with your eye...let alone a camera...lol. I have a Nikon Coolpix L110. I want to improve all aspects of my photography. I want to one day be one of those people who put together a book, and can sell it for a billion dollars a copy. Or at least be able to put my pictures up in my home and have them be excellent.

Have you done any reading on composition and the elements of design?

Not really. I've been trying with my landscape and (other) animal stuff to make it more interesting. My pup wiggles and waddles and moves so much, it's hard to get the picture to be anything but lucky it's in focus. I will start there, though!

think about the things you want IN the picture...then think about the things you want OUT of the picture...
say for instance the trailer...personally i would have avoided that like the plague. then i would have tried to take into account the shadows...with dark shadows that get cast be distracting?....chances are.
second shot is better since you got down on his level, but the tail chop is unfortunate.
