My son's band concert. Suggest improvements.

Fortunately, we were allowed to use flash, because I tried a few hand-held without the flash, and they weren't good.

I had to sit in the very back row because of my rambunctious daughters, so these are from the back of the auditorium with my Tamron 55-200.

How can this shot be improved? (besides not cutting the girl on the left off..)

Here's an example of what I got hand held with no flash-the lighting was sufficient, but I had no tripod with me:

On the first picture, the biggest problem is the out of focus heads floating in the bottom of the frame. Followed closely by the two white triangle on the right side created by the background running out. I would have tried to keep the white walls out of the edges of the frame, and at all costs get a higher camera angle to keep peoples heads out of the picture.
