OK Digital, please explain how you got the IR look. PS?

Thanks everyone Jonmikal, that's not just an "IR look", that's true IR. I used a Hoya R72 infrared filter over my 50mm f/1.8 lens. I don't have the specs on me, but I'd guess that it was ISO 200, f/11, 20-30 second exposure. I only adjusted the color balance in PS, and sharpened it.

oh cool! thought it may have been PS. thats a long exposure time...what time of day? so using that filter yeilds this result on a digital camera? i have a d70, will it work with mine? nice job!

Thanks Van. Jonmikal, it should work on your D70. This shot was in the middle of the day, about 3pm. The filter is a dark red filter, which lets no visible light in. Most DSLRs have an IR blocking filter over the CCD/CMOS, because it helps to reduce noise. This is why you need the very long exposure times. If I had shot wide open at 1.8 I could have probably gotten away with 2-5 seconds.

You have to be careful what lenses you use as well. Some lenses will yield a bad hotspot in the middle of the photo with the IR filter on. I don't have any knowledge of Nikon stuff so look around

Thanks Nytmair. It's not black and white at all actually. If you could see the sky, it'd be bright blue.

I just noticed a mosquito to the lower left of the frog in that first pic I wonder if it got eaten
