Just messing around nothing posed. All handheld indoors with the 70-200 @ F2.8.
Would love to take better portraits, so c&c welcome.

This is my 7 year old son Mathew who is never still....

He's a cute one. I like those a bunch!

The first 2 are very good. I love the soft look, altho the focus is quite nice.
The crops are a little tight, particularly on #2.
This would make a good pair if you can crop them to the same size.
I think this would very nice in a double frame with plenty of matter around them. A tight frame would be claustrophibic.

#3 is just a picture of a dog and nowhere near the quality level of 1 & 2.

The f2.8 gives you one sharp eye and one blurred eye and I am still debating with myself if I like the effect or if I don't like it and have not come to a conclusion yet. I like his sharp eye, it is really detailed, and he must have been still for at least the short moment it took you to focus and "shoot". I like his earnest, yet inquisitive gaze. "Will he get it done well, that photo he intends to take of me?" he might be wondering.

The second looks like he was watching the telly. Was he? (Good moment to have them still for a while, but I prefer the first in which he communicates with you and ultimately with us, the viewers).

I like the sharpness in the photo of your dog. Is it an enhanced sharpness?
