Very few natural sights can be compared with a sunset. I'm sharing the best of my sunset pics with you guys. I know there are a few too many pics, but critique is requested as I don't really shoot this too often, and have a lot of scope for improvement.

Nice, Raj. I have yet to get a decent sunset shot. Hey, in 3 & 4 there are guys "poling" boats. What are those? Water taxis? Lee

Hi Raj_55555
I love number 3, and then 1, and then 4. The reason I prefer 3 over 1 is there is just a little too much going on in the front of the scene of 1. If the 2 people were removed, and the violinist was just separated from the trees above him, it would have been a perfect shot IMHO. Also trying to imagine a landscape of this image.
Number 4 is really nice, but a bit too busy with no real focal point (too much going on).
Number 2 seems to be OOF, both in the foreground and the background.
Number 5 has nice colours, but it is lacking a focal point. If you would have had a rock, or a dock, or a boat, or a person in the foreground, I think it would have made the shot much better. Plus, and I'm not sure about this, my eyes are notorious for being off balance, but the image seems to be rotated ever so slightly CCW (ie. right side appears higher than the left). Try to keep the horizon dead straight.

On number three my "training" screams at me thinking that the boat in the center of the frame shouldn't be so centered. But the. I keep looking at it and I have to tell myself that it works that way. I can't see what is outside of that frame but I think it is framed well.

Next time Raj should direct the boat captain to move to the left of the sun.

#3 looks like an eye.
best sunset evah!

Which one is your preference now? 8-)

Do you think the absence of the far away central black ship would have helped?

Having a rock or something wouldn't have hurt, it didn't cross my mind back then as I hardly had 5 minutes to catch my train. I just took the long exposures, while the taxi was waiting and left in a hurry and missed the train anyway :meh:.
BTW Now that you've said it, I do see tilt.

Thank you so much for the detailed critique, it's much appreciated. :)

Excellent shots, very crisp and clear, and so beautiful :) Great work :)

Thanks Lee, yeah you can call those 'water taxis' but without any destination. Those are meant for those extra-cuddly couples who'd prefer some privacy off the shores at thrice the price.

I think I actually have one where the boat was on the right, but for some reason it didn't look quite as good as this one. I thirds don't always work out, I prefer to trust my instincts occasionally. :)

I agree with everyone else on this set Raj, #3 stands out. It's a really nice shot

Thank you so much Bill & pixmedic. I actually remember being out with my girlfriend that evening, and unfortunately for her, I was carrying my camera with me. #1,#3 & #4 were all taken on the same day, you can easily guess how romantic the evening went! ;)

Hey Raj,

For number 1, I hope it's okay, but I took the liberty of doing a quick and dirty edit. I removed the elbow growing out of his back, and just clipped the leaves above his head.
Let me know what you think.

In number 4, I don't think it would have helped, I think it's too busy. If the front had a more recognizable image or 2, I think it would have been better. Don't get me wrong, I like the image, but there is just something that doesn't sit well with me.

Number 5 was very well done for a quicky.
