Need a 2nd 5D

I've decided after my Europe trip is over this summer I'll give my T1i to my uncle as a gift with the kit lens. Its barely used but he's a very good uncle and bought me a $400 camera when he visited us last year. Not to mention he's paying for our ENTIRE trip inside Europe from hotels to traveling. I know he wants a DSLR and I think he'll love it.

So my question is should I spend $800-$1000 and get a used 5D for now as a 2nd body? When 5d MK3 comes out, if price is attractive I'll replace it with that but if it's expensive, I'll get the 5d MK2 for a cheaper price.

Any thoughts on this?

i'm in a similar situation. i've been set to move to full frame for quite some time now.
i'm going to pick up a $800-$1000 5D. i don't need the video or the super high megapixels of the 5D mkII. i will most likely up to a mkIII in a couple of years.
if all you need is full frame, and not worried about video, i'd go 5D.
