Need advice on green screen/white back drop

I am getting a backdrop and stand for a birthday gift, and I just wanted to make sure that it is the right choice. For someone who is a photographer but has a bigger focus on film would it be more useful to get them a green screen or white backdrop?

I'd guess green screen. White is hard to work with and requires a lot of light power JUST on the backdrop, not on the subject.

Get white. Unless you're really serious about your film-making a green background will be a crummy idea and a pain in the ass to work with.

Do you have enough lighting for the green screen? The thing with green screens is if they are not lit properly and evenly they don't work well.

In photography they also cast a green light on hair and skin so not only do you have to cut them out of the green background you also have to correct the green color casts in patches of skin and hair ( I made an action for this that I can paint in)

Can you get both? Greeen screen for film and white for photography?

I like Christina's both idea.
Fleece works well if you don't have the $ for both backdrops. And you can find lime green fleece anywhere.

I will agree that getting a green (chromakey) background will probably be more hassle than it's worth. I'd only suggest that if you are absolutely dedicated to doing background replacement video.
