I use a dry erase marker to color in my lens to act as a filter. Try different colored markers for different effects.

It's a pretty advanced technique, I suggest starting off with crayons.

All of my lenses have come with a high density pinch on/off ND filter. It does wonders on minimizing light, totally. I have yet to master their use. They have "nikon" stamped in the middle of them too.

I actually have a crappy old UV filter somewhere in one of my camera bags... And I probably will have to use crayons - I think I only have one dry erase marker and it's blue.

Thanks everyone for responding. Some of the tips are not really what i was looking for in my op, but i learned something new anyway. Also a special shout-out to the demented bunny. This polariser will not degrade my lenses performance by all that much.

I was looking for a you-tube video for a little guidance, I mean being such an advanced technique and all - but so far Nada.. lol
