Need Book Rec. for My 50-250mm Lens

Hi,
I'm a newbie, had my 50-250mm lens for a lil. over a year now but keep getting grainy pics. I'm heading up to Yosemite 2 months from now and was hoping to beef up my scenic photog skills. Is there any books I could learn from?!

I've tried settings w/200 and 400, on Canon t1i, all basically don't give me satisfactory result. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if my apertures correctly Also, perhaps I should really spend money getting a tripod?! Overall, I need to learn more about these settings.

As marmots has asked, post some pictures - grain is not a lens issue in my experience, rather more of a ISO thing. If you post some of your more problematic images, we can see what the "problem" is, then we will be better able to suggest some things to try.

Marmots - here are some of what I'm referring to, these haven't been photoshopped, I guess they're not what I was hoping for so I didn't want to deal w/them. Most pics taken w/the 50-250mm are just too blurry to make the cut into the 'save' file.

And yes, I'm not blind here, the pic of the bridge totally has bad composition :blushing:. Guess I wanted to throw it in there in case someone could give me a pointer to 'some' of my problems.
