Need help beginner!

i have a Nikon d5100 and when I shoot people they come out slightly blurry. Never crisp and clear. I use a mission external flash and indoors use an iso of 800. I never shoot below 1/80 so I don't think it is shutter shock. That is the extent of what I know. Any advice would be great. Thank you

I would recommend posting a picture or two for us to see, often it could be a focus issue or a camera issue, but hard to tell with out something to judge.

Yes please, images and their associated EXIF data (the shutter speed, aperture, etc) will help us diagnose the issue. There are only two causes though; missed focus or movement, and based on your OP, I'd have to say missed focus sounds like the culprit. What aperture (f #) do you typically use? What focusing mode?

It could be anything from the camera to your technique hence the more input you provide the more chance for useful help. Are you shooting in jpg or raw? Using handheld or a tripod? Where are you viewing the final results? Have you seen other pictures on that same viewing device that are sharp? And as mentioned earlier a sample photo with the EXIF data. Are you doing any post-processing?
