NEED HELP - can not remove lens from Minolta SR-7

Hello everyone! I recently was given a nice Minolta SR-7 in great condition. I have taken photographs with this camera over the past week. I was trying to take the lens off this morning and it won't budge! Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thsi is the first film SLR I have used and I want to make sure I do not break it, or the lens. ANY info would be extremely helpful!!!

If I remember rightly the SR7 is the one with the lens release button on the left hand side of the body? Could be the button spring has gone, given it was made in the early 60's! If there's any camera repair co's round your way i'd think about taking it into them and get a pro opinion.

Thanks for the reply! I think the button wasn't working properly. After pushing it in several times it finally gave way. WE used to have a great camera shop near my town, but it closed up. I definitely need to find something in this area. The guy who gave it to me had it cleaned, tested and had used it a few times himself, but it would be nice to find a reputable place to take it to just in case something goes wrong. Hunter Photo has closed, unfortunately. I haven't been to Cameras Unlimited, but I am definitely going to check them out. thanks again for the quick responses!
