Hey all, I've spent the last 3 weeks or so reviewing products deciding what to get.

I've decided on a Nikon D80 w/ a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens. I also want to get an additional lense to bring in things if needed. I won't need it for low light so I'm not too terribly worried about the aperature on it.

The three lenses I've been looking at are:
Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 LD DI Macro 1:2
Sigma 55-200 f/4-5.6 DC Zoom Lens
Nikon 55-200 f/4-5.6G ED Lens

I'm not sure which one would be the best as a secondary lense. I like the macro function of the Tamron, but it has some problems with color shadows, the Sigma seems to be a good middle ground, and Nikons has problems with distortion.

Need help deciding. Thanks.

I'd go with Tamron, just because it's longer.

well if your looking at the Tamron 70-300, why not check out the Sigma 70-300 Apo DG while your at it, i have it and am pleased with the results for the price.

I've got the 55-200VR and I love it. My birthday is next week and I think my wife is getting me the Tamaron 17-50 2.8. I can't wait!
