Need Help With Hair!

Hello,
My name is Ricardo and I am a beginner photographer in Austin Tx.
I have a Nikon D3300 with the 50mm 1.8G,
but everytime I shoot a portrait I get really bad hair quality, I try to edit on Lightroom by adjusting the blacks or shadows but the hair ends up looking like white hair making people look old,
is there a way i can improve this in camera, any settings I should use ?
