Need help with sutdio lighting setup

this is my setup and the next one is my shot.. see how its all whited out, I did the iso and shutter with the same results

But did you adjust your aperture. Higher numbers let in less light. As has been said several times in this thread, shutter speed doesn't really matter when using flash - aperture controls the amount of light let in.

The setup was just of what i have to use, i do have softboxes but dont have the rings yet to mount to my strobes.. So I am only using one light source "the strobe with the umbrella," and I am lowered all the way down on the power and have been trying to take a pic with all the light.

Thanks to all the advice and comments,(even though some were a little sarcastic) oghh well..
I will do some more research and keep playing with it when I get this right I will repost thanks to all for taking the time to give some help..

I hate to say it I used manual and did what some of you said... and it worked i have not found out the perfect set yet but its getting there. I hate to say but I was using the program modes and there were coming out wrong. Makes more sense know..

honestly i dont know i guess i am really a noob.. i mean i just put to manual and corrected a few settings and the pictures started coming out...

Sounds like the meter might have been fragged by the black backdrop. I dunno. Another possibility I guess.

You'll most likely always want to shoot in manual for studio work with strobes. Certain settings cannot change. They have to be static.

Each time you change the aperture, the decimal number, it will adjust your brightness. As it gets higher, it lets in less light and makes the scene darker. Try shooting with an aperture of about 9. That should give you decent sharpness through the lens and depending on how your strobe is set, a good starting place.
