Need help!

Can anybody tell me what this is? My grandfather was really into photography and had all the equipment you could ever want.... But now its outdated and nobody seems to know what any of it is for. He passed away over ten years ago so that makes it even more difficult to figure his stuff out. A picture of a little meter of sorts made by GE is attached to this and i was hoping maybe somebody has some kind of knowledge on what it is and what it's for. It's an older (maybe early 60s vintage) exposure meter, often called a 'light meter', used to determine what settings on your camera will give an appropriate exposure. Unfortunately, that one is most likely a selenium meter, and chances are it's at best inaccurate, and at worst, dead. They're worth almost nothing on the used market.
