...because one of my HDDs just failed. Fortunately the one that failed was part of a RAID1 set. I'm currently backing up the good disk to make sure I don't lose everything. Next job, buy a new pair of disks and re-build the array!

At least you had a mirrored array, and have a backup solution! Too many people don't, and just end up losing everything...

Well the backup has finished OK, but the MyBook I was backing up to is now 60% of the way through re-building its own array (it's set up as a RAID1 device also). Nearly there, but need to go shopping for some new disks today.

Well the PC is sorted, and now sports a pair of 1Tb disks in RAID1, but the MyBook has now dropped a disk... ...will this never end?
