Nesting Sand Piper

In my sons front yard down in NC a sand piper nesting. I got a little too close and she went into her broken wing routine for me and then gave me a very terse scolding. No eggs were disturbed during this photo shoot.

According to my daughter in-law it's a sandpiper, I have the no idea

Just looked it up, yeah, its a killdeer...is the broken wing routine typical of this bird?
