New and wanted to know if these are okay?

I just got a Canon T3 a couple weeks ago. I am loving the camera!!! I have taken sme shots and I am loving it. So what do you think of these pictures?

Yep, they are OK.

For most people shots like the 1st and the 3rd, turn the camera 90° to the portrait, or vertical frame orientation.

I like 2 the best. The others are cropped too much or are too close.

Unlike the people who will knock you down, I am of the other philosophy.


So here is my advice to you sir. If you really love it, we'll know in about 6 months.
And if it turns out you stick with it, well sir, we're in the same boat. Paddling up a stream.
There's a finish line up there somewhere.
In about a year, or less, I intend to cross it first.

Eh lightspeed is right. I was grumpy when I posted snapshots. Let me explain why I feel this way.

1) you used your on camera pop up flash it looks like to me. It makes the lighting on ur little cutie kiddo kind of harsh. Your background is severely underexposed. Def a cutie you have there! You also want to watch your backgrounds. It's busy and boring and doesn't look like you put much thought into the composition of the photo.

2) once again def cuties in this photo but your background is way way way to busy. What is your main focus in this shot? Obviously the kids but your eye can't help but jump from kid to block to kid to wall to everythig else. This would be a better shot if you had a cleaner background.

3) watch how you crop too (I'm typing this from my phone where I can't go and look at the pic while replying) also your background is busy.

I'd say you should get the book understanding exposure by Bryan Peterson. Great read for us Newbies! And concentrate more on composing your photos. You have adorable little models you just have to compose a great shot

I see no harsh lighting.

You want the background darker (under exposed), so your subject is well separated from the background.

The photos are nice, candid, fun, snap shots of your kids. They are OK, but they are not portraits.

They aren't the kind of photos you have printed big to hang on a wall.

Thank you for your words. I didn't crop any of them, that is just how I took them. I understand the background, but that's my kitchen so couldn't do anything about that.

I will work on the pop up flash, still trying to figure that out. I am wanting for the end of the holidays so I can work with someone to show me how to use my camera. I am a "show me how to do it, rather then read in a book." I guess I should look up some youtube videos.

Then there are a lot of details and nuances you will likely never be shown, and the time it takes you to learn the fundamentals will also be much longer.

It's a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy...except for the large, hidden population of functional illiterates and AHDH and dyslexic people who cannot seem to get much out of books...

In photograph first you must deal with the Asthetic issue once you've explored and achieved your goals ( it comes with the technical issue..) and you understand how to "tell" something with the elements of the image most may say that you would have a "decent" photograph, but this is subjective, and we all pass through that process, but use this formula:First your work must like you a lot and convincing for you , then if your work likes to anyone else, menas you are moving forward that's what my teachers always told me .
