New Bmx photos

not a fan of the verticle pole going through his front tire, but i love the yellow of his wheel and the parking blocks

got a new strobe last week, so this was my first time shooting with three flashes

#2 is a little busy for my taste. But i really like all of the others. even though it is a night shoot you really got the color to pop out. :thumbup:

i prefer to shoot at night actually. and i agree 2 is a bit busy, but i still like it, number 3 is my favorite.

#1 you're rule of thirds is off a bit and those two lines in the background are a bit distracting but otherwise the shot is good. #2 meh it doesn't grab me like the others #3 WOW I mean WOW. I really like that capture.You even got a bit of dust coming off the back wheel. Nice work. #4 It's a nice capture but the strobes are too prominent. I wonder if you could have moved them up a bit so that everything behind the rider was dark. That would make him pop a bit more. Of course I'm not even into off camera flash yet so I could be wrong.I also really like the curvature of the ramp on 4. It really catches my eye. Overall you've done some really nice work and I'm inspired to go to my local skate/bmx park and take some pictures. BTW you did a nice job of getting the color to pop on all of these.

1. the rule of thirds is just a suggestion to make a more interesting composition, the rider isnt centered and i got everything in fram that i wanted, im going to make a few different edits of it tho, 1 getting rid of the poles and the other blacking out the background all together.

the second is pretty busy, and not the strongest in the group, but it was a fun setup and shot.

3 is my favorite of the day and going in my final portfolio for class this semester.

and 4 i have another one with a faster shutter speed that got rid of the ambient light, but i bumped it down to 1/2 a second to get the blue in the sky, the flashes i probably could have moved up a little, but there is a dark ring around the rider the allows him to pop, if anything i should have gotton closer to the action with the fisheye!!

Nice shots, I love the first one the most except for the pole. Have you ever gone to Rays in Cleveland? Super cool place to ride and shoot.

No I like that last one too.. I love the fisheye effect. Did you use some kind of filter on this shot because it almost looks like you used an IR camera.

And what's the problem with this forum? It couldn't be the vague forum classifications, could it?

Beyond the basics is for advanced discussion according to the description. It's not a photo gallery like the nood dump got turned into. Threads like this are supposed to go into the galleries section. The problem with that is a lot of people don't even know it's there so the proper place to put this thread so that you'll get views is the noob dump.

yup, exactly.
i posted once in the sports section and didn't get nearly the views of comments.
life is to short to complain about organizational issues on an internet forum tho.
