and both happen everyday, makes things more interesting. but be my guest and do what you're told for the rest of your life, and never question anything. maybe if you're really good you'll get a scooby snack.

and i did change things in the edits. no i didn't crop out the black on the bottom and more on top. at the time i didn't like the suggestion. but none of these are final because i don't have them printed and in my stack of photographs for my final. leaving more room for editing.

I call it getting defensive.. Which is more or less what you're doing. There was another BMX shooter on here that was kind of touchy about his work too, can't remember his name... If it comes to me, I'll let you know.

Here are my issues with your photos:

1. The rider is in desperate need of more headroom. The composition is weak because of the close proximity of his head. It sticks out like a sore thumb. If you don't like the pole in the background, clone it out. I'd also suggest cloning out whatever is on the ground in the left hand side of the frame, but that's less of an issue. Other than that, the pose is good and the color coordination works.

2. There's not enough contrast between the rider and the background. It's also kind of a busy image, and doesn't really have an exciting element to it.

3. This one is kind of boring too. I would have chosen to shoot with the 2 flashes on either side of myself up top from where you took that image, and had the 3rd on the other side.

4. Probably my favorite, it just needs to have the branch cloned out from the upper right.

I think I like number 3 the best. If you want to get recognized, you have to be different and stand out. I have a kid that's pretty sick that I'm going to work with on some jumps and wood trails when it gets warm out. I cam up with an idea involving backflips and flames.

1. I don't like the pole going through the tire either, but everything around it is black - clone it out! I also think this image would work as a widescreen shot - I'd crop all the black space at the bottom out and crop the right of it just up to the yellow ramp. With these adjustments, I actually think this would be my favourite.

2. This doesn't do anything for me.

3. I like this too but again, the crop is wierd. I would've kept the proportions, but cropped away the black space on the right and some of the bottom space. Also, clone out that orange light on the left.

4. Very nice too. I'd still crop a bit of space off the top and clone out those two lens flares either side of his legs.
