New camera and pics

Just picked up a Nikon D60 and heres some pics straight from the camera to photobucket. All shot in my backyard. Any suggestions to improve would help.

You center your subjects. Try using the rule of thirds, or frame your subject. Use different angles and different focal lengths.
Your photos look more as snapshots, sorry to tell you this.

But good luck with your next photos, everyone must start from somewhere

Second one is distracting with the green leaf in front of the log. (top middle) Also agree with the comment about rule of thirds. Third shot may have been better if you were closer to the moth. Keep at it, we all have to start somewhere. Just ask LOTS of questions. I do all the time.
