New camera old lens

My dad has some old nikon gear so schlepped this 105mm f2.5 on my D70. The lens is as ugly as they come on the outside.. but damn is it a nice lens. Only drawback is trying to focus on that little viewfinder and I have no metering... which is fine.

I'm not up to date on the D70. But i know that on my istD, to get metering on older lenses like that, all I have ot do is engage the DOF preview. Might be something worth trying.
