New Camera - Suggest

Hi,

I am a beginner with a hobby of taking pictures, and now wish to purchase a good digital camera.

Can someone suggest me some good models which could be bought within a reasonable price (i.e. <~ $250)? Please also suggest websites/places where it could be checked out...

if you want to get a digital SLR $250 isn't going to be nearly enough. I don't have much experience with point and shoots so i cant help you there. But if you are seriously getting into photography have you considered

getting

a film SLR? You can pick up a quality used one fore under $100 and then you have some money for lenses.

Thanks for the advise. i've just moved in to PA. Can you suggest some sources (read websites) etc where such cameras could be purchased?
