The manual is online. So you can see all of it's features, which isn't many but more than basic in-camera HDR and seems to be able to select up to 3 different shaped sections for different exposures, WB, etc.

Looked at it...basically blocky areas, three of them, or simple straight- or angled-line areas...good for landscapes I guess, looks great for snapshots of sunsets/sunrises, etc.. If this were connected with a stylus or pen, or with finger gestures on the rear LCD of the camera, it would probably be more capable. Still--this is an advancement of in-camera editing. Looks like it would appeal to many people who want some in-camera editing features. Goodness knows, Sony's sensors have the wide DR and low noise to do some pretty heavy image "lifting" of deeply dark shadow areas!
