New Flickr Group

Not smarmy, but if they have a question, why not PM, instead of thread jacking? I just got told off by a noob called nikon guy, even though he had a point. Keep it on topic, or not in the topic.

Ok, maybe not so much smarmy as just silly. It's the internet. It happens. You're better off just ignoring it and moving on if it bothers you. Trying to dictate to the folks what is and is not acceptable within your thread just comes off bossy and that irks people.

Esp. when a good lot of the people on here think you're some punk ass kid who doesn't deserve to be strolling around with a D700.

Do whatever you like, of course. I just found it smarmy.... no, wait... silly. Yeah, that was it. :)

I started a new Flickr Group, and am trying to drum up members. All are welcome to join.

Flickr: Teen Beginner Photographers
When you say all are welcome to join, do you mean all teen beginner photographers? Or just any beginner photographer? Or just anyone?

I consider myself a beginner, but I'm 51. Too old to join?

BAHAHAHA now thats damn funny... i do think he's a punk ass kid.. but i'm ok with him having a d700, as long as mommy and daddy didnt buy it for him... kids who hav gear like that because mom and dad bought it piss me off... but if he has it because he earned the money himself (especially from shooting photos.. providing that the photos were decent and not just a scam to the parents of kids.. most people think "big camera, good pictures" and as it has been stated, we've still yet to see any of these sports photos..) then i say more power to him... but i do still think he's a punk ass kid..

btw, where are your photos.. your flickr just has 54 kinda lame landscapy type shots.. show us the money makers..

We sail the same ship. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Does that mean that we're [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdfPER5Cgm8"]Too Old to Rock n Roll and Too Young to Die[/ame]

I think NOT. :lmao:

Ok. Now this is just getting out of hand. :rolls eyes:

Due to liability, because they are under 18, like me, and I don't want to scare of business by getting the permissions for online, none will be oosted for a while, or when you pick up the latest sports illustrated.....;)

well the D90 on the end of a tripod makes a decent weapon - beat the burser round the head enough times and he will sign off any amount ;)

I wonder how my FM10 and 35-105mm would hold up.....maybe I can get enough to get meself a d90 and a gripped d700

anyhoo.....if I could figure out how to do much more than upload pictures on flickr and put theem in albums, id be more than happy to join the group.

alright im gonna defend alex, since it seems like no one else will.
if he says he earned a few bucks from his photography, shouldnt we believe him?
and so what if his parents did help pay for gear? im sure your parents have given you a present before.
and i may not be a fan of his landscape photog, but he takes some amazing nature/ animal pictures. and judging from those, i assume he can do the same with a person

I don't care who he is, where he got his gear or how old he is. We all come into photography at our pace, time and comfort. So, to Alex, I say keep shooting and don't let people on here get you down.

However, a professional photographer is defined as someone who makes a full-time living taking photos... or at least that is the standard of NPPA and other photo organizations to join.

As for liability, as long as you own the rights to the photos and you aren't posting child pornography, there is nothing illegal, immoral or wrong about posting your work to Flickr or any other online portfolio. Children included. If the photos were taken in a public place (and I am not going into the legal definition of public place but it can include private property) than you have fair use to them.

I'm just saying...

If the guy's earnt the money through photography to buy the D700 and the associated lenses then all I can say is "way to go", good job.

But, I do find his style of writing somewhat arrogant, then again, when I was 15 years old I was a bit of a "know it all" as well.

I think we should all cut him a bit of slack. But Alex, please try to think about what you're writing and how it could sound to others here.

Definitely, I have come off arrogant, however some of these previous comments in which I am a "punk-ass kid" are just a little offensive.

What it all boils down to is my equipment doesn't matter to any of you, or shouldn't, only my contributions to this forum do.

Thank you, however, to Ecas, and In2.
