new lens for canon 550d

i have had my canon for about a year now and i love it, but i want to move on to a better lens. right now i have the stock 18-55mm lens and a sigma DG 28-300mm telephoto lens. i use the stock lens pretty much all the time because i am comfortable with it but the pictures it produces are not great. i need a lens with a low f-stop and is good for macro and close range pictures. i also do alot of video work with my camera for bmx and skating video, so i need a lens that suits that. i was thinking of getting a wide angle lens but im not sure i would use it that much. also my budget is pretty low, around $300.
if you have any suggestions it would be very much appreciated.

Well, what you're asking for is quite a lot in a $300 lens... You'd really have to establish if you want a macro lens, or a wide angle. The two are very different beasts.

Meh.. I dont know.. i would definitely recommend the, Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6, but it's listed at close to or around $500.. so it might be alittle out of your budget

Also, I REALLY recommend you get the nifty fifty.. the 50mm f/1.8 prime from canon.. its close to under a $100 and i promise you, you're gonna have lots of fun with it!
