new Nikon DSLR

Does anyone know or has anyone heard if Nikon is coming out with a new Digital SLR? I've heard some rumors they are trying to catch up with Canon, (even as a Nikon user I can say that Canon's ahead of the game here). Does anyone know if and when? I was thinking of investing in a D70 but if something new is coming out I might wait.
