hello, I just got my Canon EOS60D camera W/18mm/135mm lens. . I wanted to get another lens so I got a used canon eos 55mm/250mm used lens. it looks well taken care of but it hunts in low light and auto focuses a bit slow. do i have a bad lens?

Erm, try to post the real name of the lens, something like "Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS"
55/250 says only about focal lengths, but nothing about aperture, focusing motor etc. Are we supposed to guess these parameters? :)

If your lens is the one I've stated, it isn't really any surprise that it's slow in low light. It's a quite cheap lens with DC focusing motor and not-the-best aperture (f/4 for low-light won't perform very good)

Hi, sorry , I'll post the correct lens name correctly in the future. It is the Canon EOS EF-S IS 55 mm - 250 mm F/4.0-5.6 lens
I would like to get a better lens lens. Can someone recomend a better len?
I only have about $200 dollars.

Hi I can dream up about $3050.00 fur a new lens.
I would perfer Canon maybe Sigma.I belive, everyone would choise a new lens. A single focal lenth, maybe?

3000.00 look at canon L series. Any would be good lenses.

If I were you, I would sell that 55-200 and buy a Canon EF 70-200 F/2.8 .. I got mine used from eBay for around 1000 dollars .. It' a great lens, and if you really want to spend more money you can get the Canon EF 24-70 F/2.8 too and maybe get rid of that 18-55 as well ..
You will notice a big difference in image quality!

I really ment to say I have $300.00 to buy a new lens.
should I buy a new lens of the one I i bought used or should I get a different lens for my $200.00 to $300.00 dollars recomendations please

Auto focus is not great in low light I go to manual. By low light do you mean in the dark or an overcast day. If I walk outside at night and try to take a picture of the moon auto focus won't work. Using my 55-250 outside wt night I have no problems using auto focus on a flower 3 foot away. Most of the zoom lenses at that price aren't going to be to fast.

Thank you. It's all new to me. a bit overwemlling. Trying to move up from manual focus & 2 quarter camera. their is a lot of reading todo.
