New Softbox = Playtime

Here is a grid on my old JTL Versalight 300, on an e-Bay cheapie softbox:



A grid keeps the light "contained" or "more-localized", and stops the streaming of light to the background...it's weird, but it actually prevents light from reaching the background, especially in close-quarters set-ups. Sometimes a grid like this is referred to as an "eggcrate". There are also louvers, which are just one-way strips, without the crossing square pattern. Those are not seen too much these days. This grid is made of nylon fabric,about 2 inches in depth or so, and attaches with velcro on all four edges of the softbox.
