New to DSLR need some please

I have a rebel xsi and recently I have been trying to figure it out and I'm getting no where's.. The problem I'm having it taking action shots of my son playing basketball if i shoot is sports mode they are all blurry. When i shoot in raw mode i have to use 1/80 but we get red eye in every picture.. can anyone please help me

What's the fastest shutter speed selectable when using the flash ? 1/200? Switch your camera to manual. Set the aperture to 5.6, the ISO to 400. If the pictures are a bit dark then try 800 ISO or f4 aperture or 1/160 sec shutter. Still too dark then try combinations...800 and f5.6 and 1/160 etc

What lens are you using? Fast glass is usually very handy to have for indoor court sports.

The camera needs a lot more light than your eyes do. Do you have the flash synced to the second curtain?

Shooting raw has no effect on shutter speed or red eye.

Red eye is caused by a flash.
