New to Photography, Lens Recommendation

I'd comment but made the mistake of looking at the OP's photos and I'm now cowering under the dining room table................that's some seriously scary stuff!

Attached are some images. These aren't my images, but are representative of the type I'd like to take.

If you don't have expressed permission to post images that belong to someone else, you really need to post a link to them instead.

I attempted to track down and update. This site has a bit of friction when editing posts. After a couple times of updating, I just removed the ones that were proving to be troublesome tracking down. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think some of the images you posted could be achieved by a non climber, maybe you are but I think the images are a bit unachievable at the moment. there have been a few recommendations for zooms here but all would overlap with what you have to 125 mm anyway. What would put me off primes is the limitations of being stuck at that focal length.

I'm a climber. I REALLY love Jimmy Chin's work. I've always been a climber, but I've never had or have been a photographer to document or capture any of it. I'm going to be doing a month long excursion with a group, and want to capture some of it.

So because I already have an 18-125mm, would it be advisable to go with something like the 16-85mm? I'm reading that for WIDE you want 14mm. I don't necessarily want a complete fisheye feel to my wide shots. 14mm tends to be a little pricey.

Perhaps a go pro might suit mounted on your head, there clips can be edited for stills to I think, I am open to correction on that. i looked at his site and he stuff is very good, bare in mind this guy has probably spent years at it. He does give a list of kit used underneath some images in the blog section.

That's what I'm thinking actually. I could buy an SJ4000 which has some pretty good wide angle abilities, a 35mm 1.8 prime, and take my 18-125mm for some limited zoom ability.

That's what I'm thinking actually. I could buy an SJ4000 which has some pretty good wide angle abilities, a 35mm 1.8 prime, and take my 18-125mm for some limited zoom ability.

How much is that then? Does it have changeable lenses? Like could you get rid of the current or would you lose some abilities. Post up and ask for opinions on that sj400 vs what you have visa ve what you want to do and reference what you know from this post. I could not comment on the fuji or whatever it is
