New to Photography

Composition is how you compose images... :meh:

Cute kitties...are they feral?

The striped one was when it was young but not anymore, and the white one just got kicked out of my cousins for eating furniture.

They are nice enough for a beginner. I notice you have a taste for variety. That will serve you well as you progress. I particularly applaud the fact that you did not just stand there and take photos. You got down real low, you got close, wide and zoomed.

The matters of framing/composition will come as mastery of the camera settings become second nature. Some of your shots show little framing achievement others show uncommon sparks of brilliance, like the plant in the road.

Keep shooting I suspect your future shots will show very rapid progress. Some people just have it and some don't. I suspect you might just have it. Keep shooting and strive to be your own worst critic.

Lol yeah i think i am already, i usually only find 5-10 shots out of 100 or so that are worth editing..

" i usually only find 5-10 shots out of 100 or so that are worth editing"

Well I have been doing this for 30 years and I am up to a whopping 20-30% making the final cut. LOL

I guess there is a lesson here to be learned. Take a lot of photos as hindsight eliminates most of therm. I think I took 2500 at the last wedding with 660 making the final cut. 26%

Thanks for the site KmH, how are these on composition?

Remember to keep the other 95 to 90 shots! Never throw away a photo, well i don't know if that's really advice but i love going through old photos even if there terrible. I don't regret a single photo i have taken.

Also i really liked your photo collection, the wheat field with the blue sky and the tree line was beautiful. I am jealous of your camera.

I actually wouldn't recommend saving ALL of your files. I'd suggest going through them and seeding out the ones that you took with the lens cap on, that are out of focus, or generally not keepers. Hard drive space is finite, and eaten up even faster with RAW files.

I love the sky, and the first close up. And of course the kittens are gorgeous. You are doing so well for someone who has had a short time doing photography as you say.

Have you had a chance to look at filters for your camera yet?
;)

Like o hey tyler said, I try to get rid of all the blurred or out of focus ones but I toss the rest of them on my hd.

I'm glad you like the photos. As for the cam its ok, its all in the editing ;)

Comparison: Right out of the cam in raw vs. Edited.

Thanks!

I'm going to order a UV filter and use it as a lens protector so i don't scratch up my lens. As for the other kinds of filters i looked at them briefly but im not sure about all that just yet.

The #3 in the last set is great!

+1. This one stands out for me among all the others. Nice, calm adjacent colors, no distractions, interesting subject, interesting composition. Nice shot.
