Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Hello All,

I am new to this site and i am glad i found it, it seems like a very useful and helpful site. I have been doing video the last couple of months with my canon 60d and recently got into taking pictures, i have gotten pretty good with iso and shutter speeds and exposure. This past weekend i took some photos of my little sister because she is having a debut for her 15th birthday. Alot of the pics came out great however in this picture below, one side of her dress is really bright. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas or advice on how to darken just that area? Or do you think it looks ok like this. My mom wants to use the picture for a 18x20 picture and i am not sure how it will look with that bright white side. Any info is appreciated. Also please let me know you thoughts on the picture as well thanks in advance

I have reposted the picture below

The picture is a bit small and somewhat distorted. Maybe post another copy?

Nope...it's overexposed. The reason you lost all the detail on the right side is because the light is brightest there, hence causing the over exposure. If you had metered off of that side of the dress, OR BETTER YET, had her move to a spot where the light was uniform...you would have gotten a better exposure on the dress.

And I'm not sure what happened, but the image you posted is distorted...or you've got one wide sister lol.

Why on earth would you have a watermark like that? That's just crazy lol.

Also...welcome to the forum!!

I reposted the picture was it still distorted? So any idea on how to fix it ? With photoshop or would i just count this picture as a loss?

You made the mistake that most of us make when we start, you listened to the subject instead of listening to that little voice first. The "oh I want a picture in front of the fountain or water fall at mid-day thinking it will look great" . Unless you can overpower the sun, diffuse the light somehow or shoot high speed sync it will be tough.
-Someone mentioned moving her to another location (basically take em to the shade and light em up gently).
-"Never Broad light a broad", ladies please do not take offense as a female Master had me remember it that way. Just the lighting is flat and does not compliment her well.
-This was her "Formal" shot and it looks like she is letting you take a snap-shot.
-Glad you took on the job to get your feet wet.

Shoot well, Joe
