Well, since this is my first post I'll Introduce myself. My name is Nhia, I just finished getting my certificate for Register Nursing. However I'm still looking for a job and currently working for a sushi restaurant. The camera that I own is a Canon G10 which I bought together with my boyfriend, the camera being almost 4 years now. Being the first camera that I ever owned, it was really good in quality [from a newbie perspective]. But now I look at the pictures and I notice that the quality of the pictures seems to be bad when I take it in my room. My boyfriend thinks that the problem lies with the camera and that newer cameras will be better at taking photo with low light settings. Thus his plan is to upgrade from the G10 to a G12. However! I did read some post online that a G10 is just as good or even better then the G12 model. So I'm really iffy about selling a camera that costed twice as much as the newer model.
Also, another solution that I have been looking into is improving the lighting of the room. The pictures is being shot from a desk, thus it can't be noise causing the problem, unless I'm shaking too much during the shot. And since the camera takes great photos outdoor, it has to be the lighting! But even then, just looking online, it's hard to find out what I really need. I don't use flash on the camera because.... it gives a really strong orange/yellow color that stands really out from the white background. And I'm really loss on what real photo lighting equipment I really need, like some of the products are mind blowing expensive!O_O!
Here are some of the pictures that I shot with the G10. And yes, I am a really short girl, which not too long ago a girl mistaken me for a elementary/middle school student at a shoe store[size 5 ladies if you want to know my pain]. =(
*Actually I not sure what happened to the uploaded pictures. It wouldn't upload directly to the post, so I had to do it through the gallery? But here's the link.

This picture will show the max amount of lighting that I can get in my room. Which is kinda sorta bad?

These two shots are done with the ceiling light behind me.

This one the ceiling light should be in front of me O_O? Shirt is too big for me also XD.
Edit: WOW, those pictures really does look like they came from a webcam. Q_Q
So basically I'm looking for the most cost effective advise to improve the picture quality. Either being upgrading the camera, buying lighting products (hopefully nothing excessive in size or price), or me needing to correct my camera settings). Haha, first post on a forum is so scary!
