Newbie from PA - Pics included - C&C welcome

Hey everyone. I'm a 25 year old special education teacher from PA. I was born just outside of Philadelphia and currently reside in York. I've always wanted to become a better photographer and am hoping to start refining my skills. I have a Panasonic Lumix ZS-5 which is great for a point and shoot. I'm hoping to upgrade to a DSLR in the future as the funds just don't allow it right now (I'm a teacher!). I'm a big fan of black and white and panoramics. I've included two of my favorite shots below. My girlfriend is a graphic design major and helped me edit them a bit. Any comments or criticism is welcome.
