New guy here. Been shooting digital for 10 years now starting with a Sony Mavica. Moved up to an Olympus E10 that served me well for four years but went kaput and I got a second-hand Nikon D100 over the winter. Also have a Canon G6 that the wife won at a trade show, and a couple Coolpix pocket cameras 'just in case'.

Mostly shoot motorsports as I follow a regional NASCAR tour in New England. We have a trio of black pug dogs and they get shot a LOT. But I mostly shoot the basics, single-car shots, random crew pics, random dog pics. Hardly consider myself an artsy-fartsy photographer although I'm starting to lean that way (grudginly) by participating in a couple contests, one that's real lowkey on a car forum and "Farktography" on fark.com.

Anyway the question should be an easy one. I just cut-n-paste my pics from the memory cards onto my hard drive but I don't know how to get the EXIF data from them to show up anywhere. If I copy the pics back onto the card, put card back in camera, review pics on camera it'll give me that info, but there's gotta be an easier way. Where is that stuff stored and how can I easily get to it?

For the curious or the really bored:
Racing pics are at http://www.eastseries.com
Dog pics are at http://www.pugged.com

Welcome to TPF.

Welcome and to answer your question, the EXIF when you copy the pictures to your hard drive area imbedded in the data of the picture. To view the data you can right click on the picture, go to properties, then summary, and finally advanced. It will show everything right there! Hope that helped ya out!
