I'm new to the forum and fairly new to digital photography. I have an Olympus E-500 camera and I'm pretty good at point and shoot stuff. But I make exotic wood products and I needed something professional looking for my website. I decided recently to make a homemade lightbox for my products. The plans I used are at this link: Homemade Light Box for Product Photography » StudioLighting.net . I've got 2 big shop lights with bright halogen bulbs. But for some reason, when I take pictures the background isn't the pure white like it's supposed to be. It's more of an off-white and doesn't look very good at all. There is tons of light in the little box, I'm sure. I turn all of the other lights in the room off so that all the ligh is being directed in the box. I don't have a flash except for the little pop-up that came on the camera. But I shouldn't need it should I?
How can I get the background color to be more of a pure white instead of the murky off-white I'm getting? Is there some kind of setting that I can do on my camera to remedy this? As I said, I'm pretty much a newbie so I don't know all the photography lingo. So break it down really simple for me. Thanks!
