I bought a dslr as many do because it takes pretty pictures but am now trying to learn all the basics of photography. I have not gotten into much editing as I am working on basics but what is there to do about glare from glasses? CC please

A couple of trick for glasses..... one is to raise the backs up over the ears so they are aimed down a bit. But don't overdo it because too much is obvious.

Another trick is to use off-camera flash or shoot the flash into a reflector.

Welcome! Others can probably answer better, but maybe a reflector would help.

And as you can tell ... DSLRs do t take petty photos.. It's a combination of a lot of things including you. Have fun learning!

The thing about shooting folks with glasses is that you have to think of it like a billiard ball bouncing off the rail. If you go straight at it, it's going to bounce straight back into the lens. So, you've either got to get the light off the camera and light them more from the side so that it bounces off the glass to the other side of the camera instead of into it, or you've got to turn the glasses either up, down, left or right so that it does the same thing.

By far, it's better to get the light off the camera. But if you can't do that, have your subject turn their head slightly but still keep their eyes on the lens, and try again with that until you lose the glare.

Last but not least, you can remove the lenses from the frames and replace it after the shoot.

Thanks everybody! I was thinking about buying a reflector but wanted to get used to my new flash first (430exii). This is certainly an expensive hobby!
