Newborn Photogs....where in the heck?

[ababysean]

do you buy those huge bowls and trenches in newborn photographs?
I've been to every brick and mortar store and I can not find anything I like.

Psh, infant serving bowls are a dime a dozen.

watch out. someone is going to yell at you for posting someone elses images .

I would try Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Target, etc. Youll find something similar in one of those stores.

Pier One, overstock.com, bargain closeout stores can be awesome if you're willing to stalk them since they never have the same thing twice. Also stores like Elder Beerman or Macy's sometimes have things around the holidays in Housewares that work well too. Craft stores, especially larger ones like Michael's that have sections with baskets or floral arrangements often have large baskets/bowls/wooden trays that work great. Pier One is always my first stop when prop shopping, I've never NOT seen something in there that would work, but sometimes it can get a bit pricey. It's worth it to invest in something that will last through hundreds of sessions.

It's also good to think outside of the usual props box, one of my favorite newborn photographers uses this fancy iron wrought dog bed that is the PERFECT size for newborns and with different cushions/tulle/ribbons is the most amazing little bed prop (the princess-and-the-pea set up is one of my favs).

HTH!

Why not email the photog that took the shot and ask?

I've seen them at Wal marts and Targets and even at Farm Markets...but you have to look in the home interiours sections...kwim? look where they sell candles and fake flowers...for some reason they stick big flashy bowls there!

Hobby Lobby has awesome baskets like year round and they're usually like 50% off, unless it's Easter time, lol. It's not a bowl, but I bet they have those too.

Ross ( the one here anyway ) has a TON of bowls like that. Hobby Lobby. Walmarts flowers and craft section, also by the candles. people like to take those bowls and make huge pillar set ups with stones.. so where every those are ...they follow.

Here.. try this. I googled infant props and such.. and came up with a few. maybe you can find a trail leading to one.
