Newborn shoot, 3 from todays shoot, C&C welcome

This is only my second newborn shoot, ive done alot of babies but not so young, this little guy is 2 weeks old. The last newborn shoot I did the baby was awake the whole time and I didnt get any sleeping baby shots... which are my favourite kind of shots. Ive got lots from today and did a quick edit on these 3 images. C&C welcome

The support you used looks weird and just spoils them for me

Skin tones seem off... highlights seem too bright, and the pattern on that blanket really takes away from the shots.... the yellow parts blend with the yellow baby.

Hmm, I tried antother edit trying to get did af the background almost comepletely... better?

How did you shoot these.. the baby really looks too bright! On Camera flash? Or were they underexposed, and you had to crank the brightness up? On your edit, baby's back blends into the blanket..

No flash was used, I used window light and a soft box, I did brighten them up in Lightroom.. I wanted them to be quite bright and light... maybe I overdid it.. I can easily tone it down though.

How about this edit?... I have not messed about with the contrast or colours, just tried to make the background smoother. The baby is part Indonesian... that might have something to do with the colour. I thought it looked too soft but maybe less is more??

much better on the Contrast.. and skin tone. Doesn't look fried anymore, but I would still drop exposure a couple of points, personally. The background is not as bad now... but still wouldn't be my first choice. It still looks like there is not much contrast between the baby and the blanket... and raising the contrast or playing with color won't fix that, it is how it was shot. I think that blanket is a very bad choice for this babies skin tones....

I agree with previous, though I would also tone down the red a tiny bit. Also, another tip for next time...have the mom loosen the diaper before you get there; I can see diaper lines.

i really like #1, the rest look blurry. The skin tones of the back throw everything off.

ok, thanks for the tips, I have another newborn shoot on Saturday so think I will buy a plain coloured blanket with more texture and hope to see if I can get a better result!

Im reviving an old thread but this is what I'd do... Good pose and set up IMO. Id keep the background and most of it the same. Good WB is important.
