Newly-opened leaves

I spotted this cluster of sycamore leaves, one of few to have fully opened, directly above my head as I walked through some woods today.

Thanks Corinna & Moxi. This shot appealed to me because it this was one of the few clusters of open leaves on the tree (it was on a mountain), and so I could isolate it quite well.

This could be my reply-photo but I could not isolate "my" backlit spring leaves quite so well. That is the difference between your compositions and mine...

Whoa! Heck of a shot there, tb2!!! Lovely composition. Such simplicity, yet also so much of interest (the shapes, lines, shadows, subtle coloration). Love love love this shot. Good for you for spotting it.

That's a lovely shot Corinna. I like the backlit leaves against that dark background.

Thanks Antarctican. Out of interest, this shot was taken with the lens that only 10 minutes earlier I had dropped as I was climbing a dry-stone wall. The lens fell 5 feet, rolled six feet down a mossy bank, and stopped 6 inches from the edge of a lake. Unbelievably, one small scratch to the lens-hood was all it sustained !!!
