Next school assignment - Songs

[Ballistics]

So for this week's assignment I have to pick 3 songs, develop 3 concepts for each song and photograph 4 pics per concept. Here's 1 of them.

Without telling you the song or the meaning of it, can you tell me through the picture what it might mean? I have other's that are easier to depict the environment but I appreciate this one the most because I feel like it's a little less obvious.

Critique also if you will please.

Yep. The song is called Rose Of Sharyn and it's about the loss of a loved one. At least it's somewhat identifiable. Now how about the shot?

It's a metal song, I wouldn't imagine that many people have even heard of the band on this forum. Killswitch Engage ring a bell to anyone? lol.

I didn't have that song in mind, but I was definitely going for that effect. I was hoping this morning that it was a gloomy day and luckily it was.

But as someone said, it's because of the video and the fact that if you do music+rose = Guns 'n Roses jajaja :thumbup:


If I have to point something that bothers me, it's that the dark gravestone in the background is way too close to the rose... it would be better on the left side of the picture, because it actually gives a sense of space (or location) to the picture.

Anyway, it's an excellent picture. Congratulations. :mrgreen:

I agree completely. I should have shot it at slightly larger angle.

Now here's the part I'm having trouble with. I need to crop this to 1:1. I shot this with 1:1 in mind, but all I come up with is this:

Shoot it again with a longer focal length and be farther away so you can crop with more room to play with.
