Here's the first set of images from my shoot for my old highschool. Things I've learned?

1. I need a tilt-shift lens for this. They aren't paying me ( I offered to do it, as I wanted to photograph the school and gain publicity), so I may still ask them to give me some monies to rent a tilt-shift. We'll see...

2. Mind the wide-angle + circular polarizer combo. I forgot a few times, and I had to struggle to edit it out.

3. I need my sensor cleaned again. The blue skies made that apparent.

4. I can't wait to shoot this weekend when there's late afternoon light throwing a much better light on the front of some of the buildings.

5. I enjoy this style of photography, but I feel like I have a LOT to learn about it.

6. Cars and such in the background annoy me to no end. I'll be excited to shoot this weekend as there will be few to no cars.

better light will help.
note the pincushion distortion on cranston bldg.
too much off angles and tight POVs for good arhcitectural shots, imo.

On phone. But first thoughts here are cool tones and slightly under exposed. Would like to see warmth and brighter.

Were you using a polarizer? It appears that way.

I was using a polarizer. Slight mistake on some, as I can was shooting too wide. And, the cool tones is my style. I know so many seem to nitpick about it, but I think that's just how I like to shoot. I've never been a fan of super "warm" images.

Yeah, you've got some odd angles and perspectives going here... I'd try a different lens I think. Some of the red brick looks almost burgundy, that's where the color seems like it could be better.

With the Allis House I feel like I can't see much of the house, I like the idea but what's to the right? recycling bins? they don't need to be in the frame. It feels like as a viewer I need to be in closer, probably use a longer lens and keep parts of other buildings etc. along the edges of the frames out of the pictures. See everything in the viewfinder/background before you release the shutter.

With North Entrance and South Entrance, move around and try a different vantage point to keep cars out of the shot, put them behind the booth/sign. W/South if you'd stepped left you might have gotten that nice building in the back as part of the scene but not the chopped off parts of cars to the right, put them behind the sign and out of view. (I make things 'disappear' all the time by moving my feet/myself.)

The one of the football field is nice, that's where the wide angle seemed to work well. You seem to have good ideas and you're right, it takes practice.

Thanks for the detailed response! I still have a few more days of shooting, and to be honest, these were quick edits. They aren't quite ready to deliver to the client yet, so these aren't the final products. I'll look at your comments when I'm back in Lightroom and see what I can do [emoji5]️
