Nick brandt Photography?

Anyone seen Nick Brandts work? It has such an unique look to it. I was wondering if anyone could explain how he achieves this look, is it a lot of post processing? http://www.nickbrandt.com

According to an interview in Lenswork magazine he shoots with a Pentax 67 (medium format SLR), then scans the film, and finishes it up in Photoshop before printing. At least this is how he did the photos from Africa.

His wildlife photography is amazing.

Very interesting, the shots of the elephants and giraffs are amazing
